The Burg is a popular tourist stopping place for craft drinkers nationwide. So much so that the St. Pete-Clearwater area was even dubbed as ‘The Gulp Coast.’ The region has more than fifty breweries, and here are a few in St Pete Florida that you must visit.
Pinellas Ale Works Brewery & Tap Room
If you like trivia Wednesday night, you’ll have fun here. Pinellas Ale Works can be found at 1962 1st Ave South in the Grand Central district. The place is a microbrewery and has a beer garden. Aside from offering up to 30 taps of beer, cider, and wine, one of the best things here is they have a dog-friendly taproom. Yes, obviously, given that the place is called PAW.
The outdoor seating options are nice. You can also get snacks from their food truck. Locals say that you need to go here first out of any of the breweries in the St. Pete area.
Green Bench Brewing Company
Did you know that St. Petersburg was known as “the Green Bench City?” This was way back in the early 1900s when around two thousand benches lined sidewalks downtown as if inviting passers-by to slow down and take a rest. Fast forward to the present, Green Bench, being one of the original breweries in town, emulates the same vibe of old St. Pete.
Green Bench is a wonderful brewpub with a terrific beer garden where you can also bring along your four-legged friends. There are plenty of outdoor seatings, and the staff is amicable. The pub is famous for its deep selection of IPAs; one drink to try is the Skyway Hazy Double IPA. Regulars love their sours, too.
So whenever you feel the need to just sit back and relax, go and enjoy a brew at Green Bench.
Cycle Brewing
Are you a fan of delicious barrel-aged stouts? If yes, then you will definitely love Cycle Brewing. The bar also offers a long list of taps and boasts of porters. You can order half pours to sample more of their selections, then take your pints to their outdoor seating on the patio.
Even with a smaller space than other pubs, Cycle has an atmosphere that attracts a hip clientele. You can order in advance online and then just pick up your drinks if you can’t stay.
Cycle Brewing will likely have a line when you visit, but it’ll be worth the wait.
St Pete Brewing Company
Obviously getting its namesake from the hometown, St. Pete Brewing keeps it local through and through. As ‘Burg is known for its friendly service and good beer, this bar certainly offers both. Plus, they have events and game nights all the time.
If you’re around the area, stop by for a tasty flight of the brews and even sample some before you choose. You will be welcomed by a calm dark atmosphere after a walk in the blazing Florida sun.
